Open defense of master's thesis
The thesis entitled “Microprocessor controller for thyristor tap changer” was prepared in the field of electrical engineering under the supervision of Artur Cichowski, PhD, Eng., Associate professor.
As part of their thesis, the students developed a technical design and created the hardware and software for a new thyristor controller for the tap changer of a research transformer installed at the LINTE^2 Laboratory. The developed controller is responsible for supervising the correct change of the transformer gear ratio, implementing an algorithm for non-short-circuit switching of its taps in various operating conditions. The controller allows both manual and automatic operation in cooperation with the SCADA system.
The tests of the new controller carried out as part of the thesis fully confirmed its correct operation, which allows for its implementation in the LINTE^2 Laboratory research installation.
