2026 Jubilee Year of Prof. Eugeniusz Wasilenko

On the 100th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Eugeniusz Wasilenko, the Council of the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering of the Gdansk Tech, at the request of the Dean of the Faculty, Mirosław Wołoszyn, PhD, DSc Eng., Associate professor, established the year 2026 as the Jubilee Year of Prof. Eugeniusz Wasilenko.

Eugeniusz Wasilenko, PhD, DSc Eng., Associate professor was born on August 19, 1926. He was a professor at Gdańsk University of Technology, head of the High Voltage Department, vice dean and dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology, as well as vice rector of Gdańsk University of Technology.

In his scientific and teaching activities, Eugeniusz Wasilenko dealt with high voltage technology, surges and surge protection, electrical materials science, TWN for physicists, insulation coordination, HV insulation systems, and transformers. He supervised four doctoral students.

He held a number of positions: head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and High Voltage at Gdańsk University of Technology (1968-1975), head of the Department of High Voltage at Gdańsk University of Technology (1975-1981), vice-dean and dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology (1869-1975), vice-rector for scientific research at the Gdańsk University of Technology (1975-1981), Acting Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at RSUST, Port Harcourt, Nigeria (1982-1985), Head of the High Voltage Department at PG (1985-1991), Head of the High Voltage Chair at PG (1991-1996).

He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1986), the Gold Cross of Merit (1973), and the Medal of the National Education Commission (1978). He received numerous awards from the Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology.

Died on March 10, 2009.
