On 8 May, students of second-degree electrical engineering participated in an off-site laboratory as part of the High Voltage Technologies course. This time they visited the Hydroelectric Power Station in Straszyn and the LAMEL company, where they had the opportunity to learn about the construction of low- and medium-voltage switchgear.

The hydroelectric power station was built to prevent spring floods, during which the waters of the Radunia threatened the areas in the foreground of the Danzig forts. It was commissioned in 1910 and is still in operation today. The power station complex includes: a powerhouse, two outflow channels, a huge weir with a huge cascade, several historical staff buildings and an artificial lake called Goszyński or Straszyński. The power station has been nicknamed the “water castle” because of its characteristic shape and is one of six power stations forming the unique “cascade of the Radunia river” complex.

Lamel operates in the power industry and its leading area of activity is the manufacture of equipment for the transmission and distribution of electricity. The company also trades in materials for the construction of power grids and equipment. It successfully provides comprehensive services for investments in the production of equipment for electrical power installations.
