Baltic Science Festival

BFN
On 22 May, faculty members and students from the SEP Student Association of the Gdansk University of Technology and the Automation Students' Scientific Association participated in the Baltic Science Festival.

Younger, but also slightly older participants could get acquainted with an underwater robot taking part in a research project and test it in a diving simulator, 3D printing technology, LEGO Mindstorm, as well as take a journey into the world of electricity, touch an electrostatic bulb, a plasma ball and learn about the operation of a DC motor, a generator and an electrostatic machine.

The graduates of PhD, DSc Eng. Robert Piotrowski, Associate professor, presented the various stages of construction and software of the remote control glove, how it works and what the glove can do.

The LineFollower robot racing demonstration, organised by Paweł Kowalski, Ph.D., also attracted great interest. Extremely spectacular rides by autonomous robots and emotionally charged struggles of the machines aroused the interest of the gathered festival participants.
Students of the Hydrogen Technology and Electromobility course presented autonomous robots created as part of the Control of Mobile Robots course. Sixteen constructions took part in the race, and the competition was really fierce!
After a thrilling battle, the podium finishers were:

  • Jakub Graczyk, Jakub Lemanczyk, Bartosz Lemanczyk - 20.93 s
  •  Julia Siwiecka, Julia Paczkowska - 36.92 s
  •  Maksym Baran - 47.72 s
