We are pleased to inform you that one of the projects that received funding in the first edition of the VENTUS-HYDROGENII-REDIVIVUS program in the field of HYDROGENIA is a project submitted by the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering.

Project manager of the H2 Tech LAB - Laboratory of Hydrogen Technologies. Gdańsk Tech Hydrogen-based Energy Storage Testbed (Gdańsk Tech HEST) (PL), is D.Sc. Eng. Robert Malkowski, prof. GUT.

The main objective of the project is to build an innovative hydrogen installation for R&D purposes. The installation will be integrated with other R&D infrastructures of the Gdańsk University of Technology, including the infrastructure of the LINTE^2 Laboratory and new infrastructures developed as part of the H2Tech LAB - Laboratory of Hydrogen Technologies:

  • Gdańsk Tech Scalable and efficient electrolysis stack prototype
  • Gdańsk Tech Hydrogen transport and storage in chemical compounds.

Both of these projects also received funding from the V-H-R program.

The hydrogen produced in the installation will be produced by industrial electrolyzers powered by renewable electricity generated in a photovoltaic power plant at the LINTE^2 Laboratory. Hydrogen will be used by other H2Tech LAB modules as well as by industrial customers.

An important part of the project will also be the development of research services in the field of testing and diagnostics of hydrogen fuel cells.

The project fits perfectly into the EU and Polish hydrogen strategies, which envisage that renewable hydrogen will play a key role in the decarbonisation of the industrial and energy sectors. The results of the project will also provide significant support for R&D works in the field of hydrogen technologies carried out at Gdańsk Tech.
