PYLON2 project - implementation in 2021-2023:
Innovative special-purpose constructions of single and double-track poles for high voltage lines with a communication system supplied directly from the high voltage line
The NCBiR project implemented together with Energa Invest SA (project leader) aims to develop innovative special-purpose structures of single and double-circuit 110 kV lines with a communication system powered directly from high-voltage lines. The new solution is characterized by the use of insulating crossbars and the introduction of a power supply system for communication systems directly from the high-voltage line via voltage transformers. The insulating solution of the crossbars will allow for a smaller technological belt, will shorten the construction time of new lines due to the easier installation of the crossbars, and will significantly reduce the weight of the pole and the construction cost. In addition, the proposed solution for powering the communication system responds to the needs reported by the market, e.g. in the field of energy security and ensuring emergency power supply in the event of a power outage. The main recipients of the project results are the largest domestic distribution system operators, dispersed distribution system operators (DSOs) and design companies.
Within the framework of the project, Gdańsk University of Technology is the contractor of 4 stages concerning:
calculations of electric and magnetic field distributions around the designed pole structures (WEiA),
construction of a specialized system for the communication system that integrates several functionalities and is powered directly from the 110 kV line through a voltage transformer (WEiA),
simulating the actual work loads of insulator cross-arms on a scale of 1: 1 on the designed, simplified prototypes (WIMiO),
performing measurements of electric and magnetic field strength with a meter with a uniaxial sensor in a plane perpendicular to the ground surface and with a 3-axis sensor at selected points in order to verify the field strength calculations (WEiA).
