Strength tests of the first carbon shafts manufactured in Poland

On 2-3 September 2021, at the request of the company Krawczyk Steel & Carbon driveshafts from Zielonki near Krakow, the LINTE^2 Laboratory carried out static strength tests of the first carbon shafts manufactured in Poland intended for motorsport.

During the tests, the tested drive shafts were subjected to the maximum torque load, which resulted in their destruction. The tests used a machine dynamometer located in the LINTE^2 Laboratory, equipped with an angular gear, to which the tested shafts with an appropriate mounting holder were attached. Based on the tests, the maximum static strength of the three drive shaft structures was determined to be 3801, 3900 and 3907 Nm, respectively.
At the end of 2021, the company plans to launch series production of carbon shafts, which will also be available on request.
The research was carried out by employees of the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering: Roland Ryndzionek, PhD and Łukasz Sienkiewicz, PhD.
