Prof. Marek Olesz - Personality of the Year 2020 Polish Chamber of Civil Engineers
The aim of the Competition is to distinguish and promote the creators of implemented, innovative solutions and technical and economic undertakings, as well as to promote and popularize the achievements of the creators of technology, science and modern economy in the field of electrical engineering, power engineering, telecommunications and lighting in Poland.
Marek Olesz - doctor of technical sciences in the discipline of electrical engineering - Gdańsk University of Technology, Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering (1998), habilitated doctor (2017), associate professor. His professional life so far has been associated with the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology, where he has been working for 30 years. Currently, he is the Vice-Dean for Development in the 2020-2024 term. Author and co-author of about 150 publications and scientific papers. Experienced, with initiative and extensive technical knowledge. Active member of many research teams, member of the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Electrical Engineering (since 1996), member of the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers SEP (since 1991).
Winner of many awards and distinctions: Silver Medal for Long Service (2019), KEN Medal (2009), Bronze Cross of Merit (2005), GUT Rector's awards for research achievements: 2nd degree (2), 3rd degree (1), Gdańsk Tech Rector's awards for didactic achievements: 1st degree (3), 2nd degree (3), 3rd degree (3).
