Zygmunt Nagiełło
After graduating from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Gdańsk University of Technology in 1954, Zygmunt Nagiełło began working at the Department of Maritime Electrical Engineering at the Gdańsk University of Technology, which in 1970 became part of the Institute of Maritime and Industrial Electrical Engineering. As the team leader, he was responsible for special research in the field of hydroacoustic and electromagnetic fields. In 1965 he obtained a doctorate in technical sciences. From 1961, Zygmunt Nagiełło was employed as a senior designer, as well as a specialist and main specialist. He headed a research and development team whose task was to develop, manufacture and put into operation atypical devices and measurement and control objects for special purposes. He cooperated with the Navy. For his merits for the development of the Navy, he was awarded the medal "For Merits to the Navy of the Polish People's Republic". In the period 1968-72 he also conducted lectures and laboratories in the subject of Hydroacoustics and Acoustics for students specializing in marine electrical engineering.
Based on the concepts of Zygmunt Nagiełło, the first laboratory and technical magnetometers, special stations, a central magnetic laboratory at the Marine Technology Center and magnetometers were developed and implemented. He is the author of numerous publications and patents. For outstanding achievements, he received many state and rector awards, as well as a number of state decorations, incl. Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Gold Cross of Merit.
On December 31, 1999, he retired.
