He passed his master's diploma examination in 1965, specializing in electrical machines.

He started his scientific career in the same year as an assistant intern at the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Gdańsk University of Technology. In this department, he significantly expanded his knowledge of the theory of electrical engineering and the theory of regulation. In 1967 he moved to the Department of Electrical Machines at the same faculty. In the Department of Electrical Machines, he went through the stages of his scientific career - assistant, senior assistant and assistant professor. PhD thesis, entitled "A series excitation electronically commutated motor with adjustable speed," he defended in 1974. The thesis supervisor was prof. Stefan Roszczyk. The dissertation concerned the innovative for those times subject of motor control with the use of electronic commutation. From 1991 to 2000, he was also involved in scientific and research work as well as innovative and implementation work at the Gdańsk University of Technology as a specialist.
