Central Commission for Degrees and Titles stamp
On May 29, 2017, the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles, after consulting the General Council of Higher Education, decided to grant the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering at the Gdańsk University of Technology the right to confer the academic degree of habilitated doctor of technical sciences in the discipline of automation and robotics.

As a result of the decision, Gdańsk University of Technology obtained another, 12th, authorization to confer the academic degree of habilitated doctor in the field of technical sciences. In addition, the University also has habilitation qualifications in the fields of chemical sciences, physical sciences and economic sciences.

For the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering, it is the second scientific discipline, next to the electrotechnical discipline, in which the unit may award the habilitation degree. In this way, the Faculty will become the third unit of the Gdańsk University of Technology with the right to post-doctorate in more than one discipline of technical sciences.

In order to obtain the right to award the academic degree of habilitated doctor, the Faculty had to meet many formal, legal and substantive requirements in the field of documented scientific and research achievements in the discipline of automation and robotics. Detailed requirements in this regard are described in the Act of March 14, 2003 on academic degrees and the academic title as well as on degrees and title in the field of arts.
