award ceremony
Graduates of the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering, MSc Marcin Skibowski and MSc Robert Przystalski won this year's Professor Romulald Szczęsny award for the best diploma thesis in the field of modern technologies, prepared at Gdańsk University of Technology in 2016.

The award was granted for the Master's thesis Design and construction of a mobile, underwater inspection robot, made under the supervision of Jarosław Guziński, DSc.

As part of the work, the diplomats constructed a remotely controlled underwater robot that can be used to carry out works under the water surface, such as: inspection of ship hulls, inspection of sea transmission cables, wind farms, or hydrotechnical elements of hydroelectric power plants. The robot has the function of transmitting the image from a video camera, and communication with it is via a fiber optic cable.

The award, funded by the Mayor of Gdynia, was presented to the winners on October 6, 2017, during the official inauguration of the 2017/2018 academic year at Gdańsk University of Technology.
