The Department conducts research within the areas of interdisciplinary mathematical modelling and simulations, estimation, identification, optimization, advanced methods and structures of control systems, diagnostics and decision support, with special emphasis on computational intelligence methods. Research is carried out in various fields, including power systems, drinking water distribution systems, wastewater treatment systems, medicine, detection, classification and protection of ferromagnetic vessels based on the magnetic fields analysis.
The Department offers courses related to the broad field of automation, control engineering and artificial intelligence, such as: Fundamentals of Systems Engineering, Modeling and Identification, Dynamic Systems, Control of Continuous Processes, Computer Control Systems, Computer Networks and Information Technology, Industrial Information Networks, Monitoring and Diagnostics in Control Systems, Knowledge Engineering Systems, Artificial Intelligence Methods, Machine Learning, and many others.
The Department is responsible for the specialty: Control Systems and Decision Support for Master Degree students in Control Engineering and Robotics. In this specialty, students gain expanded knowledge of modeling, control, monitoring, diagnostics, artificial intelligence and decision support as applied to industrial systems. This knowledge is supported by the study of advanced computer programming for future professional work or continuation of studies at the third degree (Doctoral School). Many graduates of this specialty are now PhD students and employees of our Department.
