On the 16th of June 2020, the Council of the Discipline Automation, Electronics and Electrical Engineering of the Gdańsk University of Technology promoted Ph.D. Anna Witkowska to habilitated doctor in engineering and technical sciences.
The basis for awarding the degree of habilitated doctor was the evaluation of scientific achievements, the main element of which is the scientific monograph entitled Synthesis of dynamically positioned ship control system in uncertainty conditions. The work uses advanced adaptive and resistant backstep algorithms and modified structures of these algorithms to control a dynamically positioned ship taking into account the specificity of the process, where there are uncertainties in the marine environment and control redundancy.
Anna Witkowska is a graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Gdańsk. She obtained the Ph.D. degree in technical sciences at the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Warsaw University of Technology in 2011. Her research interests relate to non-linear adaptive and robust control systems in conditions of incomplete information about the control object and algorithms for optimal control allocation for objects with an excessive number of control signals.
