Department overview

The activities of the Department are carried out by the following two research teams: the Mechatronics and High Voltage Engineering team and the Biomedical Engineering team. Both teams are equipped with unique test and measurement infrastructures and instruments (e.g, high-voltage laboratory, advanced laser scanning vibrometer, instruments for biomedical measurements).

The primary research activities of the Department are carried out in the following areas:

  • Precise evaluation of the human body surface area
  • Analysis of bio-signals
  • Rehabilitation systems
  • Assessment of the impact of electromagnetic fields on living organisms
  • Electro-mechanical periodic structures as active acoustic metamaterials
  • Electro-mechanical properties of dielectric materials in specific environmental conditions
  • Leakage currents in diagnosis of voltage surge protectors
  • Mobile robots for diagnostic of high voltage power lines
